Indian Navy receives second ship pf Project 15B guided missile destroyers

The Indian Navy (IN) has received the second ship of Project 15B stealth guided missile destroyers Y 12705 (Mormugao) from Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders Limited (MDL).

The ship is 163 metres long and 17 metres wide with a displacement of 7400 tonnes and has a maximum speed of 30 knots.

The contract worth Rs 29,644 Crores approx. for four ships of Project 15B was signed on 28 January 2011.

Designed by the Warship Design Bureau (WDB), a total of four ships viz. Visakhapatnam, Mormugao, Imphal and Surat are being built by MDL, under the ‘Make in India’ initiative.
