Under Technology Development Fund (TDF) scheme, the Ministry of Defence has sanctioned around 68 projects worth Rs 287.40 Crores till date; out of which DRDO’s share is Rs 250.12 Crores. Besides, a total fund of Rs 58.87 Crores out of the DRDO share of Rs 250.12 crore have been released.

Stage I – Preliminary System requirement (PSR) / Preliminary Design Review
Stage II – Working Models / Detailed Design Review / Critical Design Review
Stage III – Engineering Grade Functional Testing / Mil grade Prototypes production
Stage IV – Qualification Testing (QT) & Environmental Testing / Functional Testing /Design iteration if any / Hardware Delivery
Stage V – Documentation / Transfer of Technology (ToT) / Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) sharing / PSR, any other remaining activity
About TDF Scheme
The TDF Scheme aims to provide a major fillip to the defence manufacturing sector by encouraging the industry to innovate and develop defence technologies in order to place India on the self-reliance trajectory. The scheme facilitates up to 90 per cent of the total project cost and allows industry to work in consortium with another industry/academia. With the enhanced funding, the industry and startups will be able to develop more complex technologies for existing and future weapon systems and platforms.
