The Indian Ministry of Defence (MoD) has come out with six Make-III exploratory projects of Indian Air Force for industry participation.
Noteworthy, the Make-III category has been introduced in Oct 2020 under Ch-III of DAP-2020.
Projects under Make II and Make III would encompass equipment/ system/ platform or their upgrades or their subsystems/ sub-assembly/ assemblies/ components/ materials/ ammunition/ software, primarily for import substitution.
This although would not be designed/developed indigenously, but can be manufactured in India as import substitution for product support of weapon systems/equipment held in the inventory of the Services.
Indian firms may manufacture these either in collaboration or with ToT from foreign OEMs. In this category, an Indian vendor can enter into a JV with OEM.
To be noted that schemes under Make III will be procured under the Buy ‘Indian’ category with a minimum of 60% IC.
Following are the details of the six projects for the IAF:-
1. Manufacture of CM II missile for Su-30 MKI aircraft of IAF under Make-III Category of DAP-2020.
Brief about the Project: IAF operates Su-30 MKI aircraft and employs CM II missiles. With the Atmanirbhar scheme in vogue, there is a requirement to manufacture these missiles within the country.
Therefore, it is proposed to manufacture these CM II missiles as per the Make III procedure of Chap III DAP 2020.
Quantities:-
(a) Prototype: 12 (Twelve) .
(b) Procurement: Qty 100 (approx). Final figure will be captured during feasibility study.
Approximate Cost: To be arrived at during feasibility study.
Tentative Timelines: To be arrived at during feasibility study.

2. Manufacture of MISTRAL WVR AA for ALH (WSI) and LCH of IAF under Make-III Category of DAP-2020.
Brief about the Project: IAF operates ALH (WSI) and Light Combat Helicopters. MISTRAL WVR Air to Air Missiles are required for use by these aircraft. With the Atmanirbhar scheme in vogue, there is a requirement to manufacture these missiles within the country.
Therefore, it is proposed to manufacture MISTRAL WVR AA missiles or ALH (WSI) and LCH heptrs as per the Make III procedure of Chap III DAP 2020.
Quantities:-
(a) Prototype: 10 (Ten).
(b) Procurement : Qty 100 (approx). Final figure will be captured during feasibility study.

3. Manufacture of HSLD Mk II for Jaguar and Su-30 MKI aircraft of IAF under Make-III Category of DAP-2020.
Brief about the Project: IAF operates Jaguar and Su 30 MKI aircraft. The HSLD Mk II missiles are carried by these aircraft. With the Atmanirbhar scheme in vogue, there is a requirement to manufacture this missile within the country.
Therefore, it is proposed to manufacture these HSLD Mk II missiles as per the Make III procedure of Chap III DAP 2020.

4. Manufacture of R-73 E missile for Bison, MiG-29 and Su 30 MKI aircraft of IAF under Make-III Category of DAP-2020.
Brief about the Project: IAF operates Bison, MiG-29 and Su 30 MKI aircraft. R-73 E missile is carried by these aircraft. With the Atmanirbhar scheme in vogue, there is a requirement to manufacture these missiles within the country.
