CFF, Atlas Elektronik partner for indigenous sonar systems for Indian Navy

ATLAS ELEKTRONIK GmbH has joined forces with CFF Fluid Control Ltd to supply 12 indigenous low-frequency variable depth sonar systems for the Indian Navy.

These advanced towed sonars are set to be integrated into Indian Navy Anti-Submarine Warfare (ASW) vessels, through shipbuilders Garden Reach Shipbuilders and Engineers Ltd in Kolkata and Cochin Shipyard Limited in Kochi.

Proven Technology in Indian Waters

The technology for these sonar systems is not entirely new to Indian waters. Atlas Elektronik has previously supplied Active Towed Array Sonars to the Indian Navy, demonstrating the effectiveness and reliability of their technology.

This new partnership aims to enhance the operational capabilities of the Indian Navy’s front-line platforms by leveraging proven technology and localized production.

Boosting Self-Reliance

A significant aspect of this partnership is the production of these sonar systems in India by CFF Fluid Control Ltd.

This move aligns with the Indian Government’s objective of achieving self-reliance in defense manufacturing.

By producing these systems domestically, the partnership not only strengthens India’s defense capabilities but also promotes local expertise and job creation.

CFF Fluid Control Ltd’s Expertise

CFF Fluid Control Ltd brings a wealth of experience to the table.

The company specializes in the manufacture, overhaul, repair, and maintenance of mechanical and electronic equipment, including navigation, communication, and weapon systems for Indian Naval submarines and surface ships.

Their expertise extends to reference systems and test facilities encompassing pneumatic, hydraulic, electrical, and electronic systems.

Atlas Elektronik: A Leader in Underwater Acoustics

Atlas Elektronik is a renowned maritime specialist, particularly in underwater acoustics.

As a division of the German submarine and shipbuilder thyssenkrupp Marine Systems (tkMS), Atlas Elektronik is a technology leader in many sectors.

Their collaboration with CFF Fluid Control Ltd ensures that the Indian Navy receives cutting-edge sonar systems that enhance their anti-submarine warfare capabilities.

The integration of these advanced sonar systems into the Indian Navy’s ASW vessels is a crucial step in bolstering the country’s maritime defense.

By enhancing the Navy’s ability to detect and track submarines, these systems play a vital role in safeguarding India’s maritime interests.

The partnership between ATLAS ELEKTRONIK GmbH and CFF Fluid Control Ltd marks a significant milestone in India’s journey towards self-reliance in defense manufacturing.

By combining proven technology with local expertise, this collaboration promises to enhance the operational effectiveness of the Indian Navy’s front-line platforms, ensuring that the nation’s maritime defense capabilities remain robust and resilient.
