The Danish Parliamentary Committee for Higher Education and Science met the Chairman, Indian Space Research Organisation/ Secretary, Department of Space (DoS) on March 8, 2024. The Danish Committee was headed by H.E. Ms. Katrine Robsoe.
Senior officials of ISRO/DoS participated in the meeting.
Noteworthy, Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) is the national space agency of India.
It operates as the primary research and development arm of the Department of Space, which is directly overseen by the Prime Minister of India.
The Indian Space Programme was briefed to the committee. Chairman, ISRO outlined the trends in terms of manufacturing, regulation, and participation of non-governmental entities in the Indian space programme.
During the discussions that followed, the Danish committee enquired and learnt how to rope in the start-ups, how to initiate agency-level collaborations, the potential of the latest manufacturing techniques like additive technology, how universities and institutions of national importance participate in the Indian Space Programme, plans & approaches for the mitigation of space junk, etc. Chairman, ISRO invited the visiting committee for India-Denmark industry-level collaborations and to utilise the training offered by ISRO.
