The Indian Armed Forces are planning to set up three additional Joint Logistics Nodes (JLN). It is being planned under the integrated theatre commands to enhance integration and supply chains.
Further, these are likely to be set up at Leh, West Bengal and Tamil Nadu.
All such nodes will augment the existing integrated logistics mechanism for the Indian Armed Forces.
Basically, these JLNs will provide integrated logistics cover to the Armed Forces for their small arms ammunition, rations, fuel, general stores, civil hired transport, aviation clothing, spares and engineering support in an effort to synergise their operational efforts.
About Joint Logistics Nodes
The establishment of JLN has been undertaken for enhancing joint inter-operability between the Services and go a long way in improving the logistics processes of the Armed Forces in accordance to enhancing of the jointness among the three Services.
Besides, the integrated logistics in the Armed Forces and will enable them to operate in all areas and across all spectrum of warfare seamlessly.
The Joint Operations Division under the Headquarters Integrated Defence Staff has been responsible for establishing the nodes
As of now, India had three joint logistics nodes in Guwahati and Tri-Services, Andaman and Nicobar Command, Port Blair which were operationalised on January 01, 2021.
