Brief Details: The Indian Navy is planning to procure 08 x 50 Ton Bollard Pull (BP) Tugs from registered Indian Shipyards and has issued a RFI for the same under Buy (Indian-IDDM) category. As per the RFI, the Indigenous design and content should be ≥ 50%.
The aim of seeking this RFI is also to finalise the specifications for the Tug with inputs from the Shipyards.
The first Tug is expected to be built and delivered within 18 months of the effective date of Contract, with delivery of subsequent Tugs at an interval of three months each.
The RFI stipulates that the Tug should be capable of: –
(a) Assisting Naval ships, submarines, and dumb barges in berthing, unberthing, turning and manoeuvring in confined waters/ harbours.
(b) Undertaking cold move of Naval ships and submarines under refit/ maintenance within port limits.
(c) Providing assistance for dry docking/ undocking ships and to assist movements in/ out of the tidal basin.
(d) Moving non/ self-propelled vessels such as ammunition/ water/ fuel barges within port limits.
(e) Assisting warships during inclement/ rough weather to prevent accidental damage within port limits.
(f) Providing afloat firefighting cover/ assistance to ships alongside/ at anchorage.
(g) Providing towing assistance to warship.
(h) Un-beach a grounded vessel.
