Indian Navy ends trials for USD 4 Bn Multi-Role Carrier Based Fighter deal

The Indian Navy has completed the trials for USD 4 Bn Multi-Role New Generation Carrier Based Fighter deal, and is now evaluating extensive trial reports of fighter jets.

The two contenders for the contract are the French aircraft Rafale M and the US based Boeing manufactured F-A/18 aircraft. The trial team has submitted its report to the Naval Headquarters after carrying out extensive trials at its Goa-based facility.

The evaluation process is at an advanced stage and is expected to be completed very soon.

The Indian Navy earlier required 57 planes, but the requirement was cut short to 26 aircrafts in support of indigenous planes. These deck-based fighter jets will be equipped on India’s first indigenous aircraft carrier, INS Vikrant.
