HAL announces several partnership agreements at Aero India 2023

DPSU Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) has signed several partnership agreements / deals at the Aero India show in Bangalore. Some of the relevant are as under:-

  1. The DPSU have signed a workshare agreement with Safran Helicopter Engines for the joint development of the engine intended for the future 13-ton Indian Multi-Role Helicopter (IMRH) and its naval version Deck Based Multi-Role Helicopter (DBMRH). This agreement follows the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed on July 8, 2022 and stipulates the sharing of activities within the joint venture where both parties have agreed on an equivalent repartition.
  2. Safran Helicopter Engine & HAL also agreed on the condition for the transfer right to HAL for manufacturing of 7 critical Forging and Casting raw parts, for further enhancement of Indigenous Content (IC) in Shakti Engine of ALH/ LCH 29999.
  3. HAL’s Bangalore based Engine Division has signed a collaboration with US defence major General Atomics Aeronautical Systems, Inc (GA-ASI), the manufacturer of the MQ-9Bs9B Guardian Unmanned Air Vehicle (UAV)s for the Maintenance Repair and Overhaul (MRO) services for the UAVs. HAL’s Engine Division announced will basically provide local support for the Honeywell TPE-331-5 engines.
  4. HAL also signed a Letter of Intent (LoI) from the Indian Coast Guard for nine additional 5.5t Advanced Light Helicopter (ALH) DHRUV-IIIs.
  5. The DSPU inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with United Arab Emirates healthcare provider Response Plus Holding (RPM). Both the firms will explore helicopter emergency medical services (HEMS) in India and the Middle East.
  6. It has signed a contract with Argentinian Air Force for supply of spares and engine repair of Argentinian Air Force’s two tonne class helicopters.
