A Centre for Space Science and Technology was inaugurated at IIT Roorkee on May 8, 2023.
Shri Somanath S, Secretary, Department of Space & Chairman, ISRO inaugurated it along with the office premises for ISRO-IITR Space Technology Cell.
He invoked the research scholars and faculty members to work on various opportunities available in the space sector and develop various applications, businesses, and diverse benefits. He emphasized focusing on the applications leading to the capability to manufacture and startups.
Shri Somanath S released a compendium‘Research Area in Space 2023’ and the ‘Atlas: Exploring Footprints of the Past Heritage Documentation – A Geospatial Approach’, brought out by RESPOND, Capacity Building and Public Outreach Programme Office, ISRO Headquarters and by IIRS, Dehradun.
