As part of Indian Navy’s deployment to five African nations, INS Trishul made a port call at Mombasa, Kenya from 26 – 29 May 2023, reflecting India’s cordial ties with its Maritime neighbours.
During port call, personnel from Indian Navy and Kenya Navy undertook a wide range of professional interactions, deck visits and sport exchanges aimed at enhancing cooperation and mutual understanding.
On 27 May 2023, personnel from both navies jointly participated in a Yoga session at Mtongwe Naval Base, Mombasa, as a curtain raiser for 9th International Day of Yoga IDY to be marked worldwide on 21 June 2023.
With a view to showcase India’s unity and reach to all friendly countries, an ‘Ocean Ring of Yoga’ has been proposed for IDY 2023 celebrations, wherein Yoga would be performed at numerous foreign ports.
Personnel from both navies also participated in friendly volleyball match.
The ship was open to visitors on 27 and 28 May 2023.
A medical outreach camp was also conducted at ‘Island Muslim Girls Orphanage’ on 28 May 2023, wherein children were screened for general health. On 29 May 2023, the ship participated in a Maritime Partnership Exercise with Kenyan Navy Ship Jasiri.
