Indian Navy partners with QNu Labs for Quantum Key Distribution Systems

The Indian Navy has partnered with Bengaluru-based Qnu Labs for the procurement and deployment of Quantum Key Distribution (QKD) based systems.

With this contract, the Indian Navy has become as the first agency in the country to procure large-scale quantum-based encryption systems.

In response to the rapid advancement of quantum computers and the increasing vulnerability of traditional encryption systems, the Indian Navy has taken this initiative to procure and deploy QKD systems in a hub & spoke configuration across multiple locations, with QNu Labs as the partner for delivering and integrating these state-of-the-art systems.

The procurement of QKD-based hub & spoke systems is a strategic move that underscores the Indian Navy’s determination to stay at the forefront of emerging security technologies.

This program will not only secure communication networks against potential threats but also positions the Indian Navy as a pioneer in the field of quantum secure communication within the country.

About Quantum Key Distribution (QKD)

It is a state-of-the-art appliance which provides unconditional security for your critical data by leveraging the principles of quantum physics.

It is a highly-sophisticated engineering innovation which involves the power of complex deep-tech technologies (such as semiconductors, optoelectronics, high precision electronics, complex software algorithms and quantum physics) that work together to create unconditional security.

This product enables to create secure encryption keys for any two ends of a communication link for Symmetric Key Encryption system without ever sharing the actual keys on any links. The basic principle is to exploit the peculiarities of quantum mechanics by utilising encoded photons or “Qubits” from one end (Alice) to the other (Bob) over a single fibre core called the quantum channel.
