Director General, National Cadet Corps (NCC) Lt Gen Gurbirpal Singh held a meeting with Commandant, Marine Corps and Commanding Officer, NCC of the Maldives Brig Gen Wais Waheed in New Delhi on June 22, 2023.
During the meeting, the visiting dignitary was informed about the history of NCC India, its spread across the country, training of cadets & trainers and the Youth Exchange Programme between India and the Maldives.
Detailed discussions were also held on addressing the challenges faced by Maldives NCC. NCC India extended its support to the Maldives to face the challenges and invited them to subscribe to the courses run by NCC India for trainers & cadets.
The meeting was aimed to further bolster the ties between the organisations of the two countries, while enhancing cultural & historical exchange between the youth and strengthening the ties.
About NCC
The National Cadet Corps (NCC) is the youth wing of the Indian Armed Forces with its headquarters in New Delhi, India.
It is open to school and college students on voluntary basis as a Tri-Services Organisation, comprising the Army, the Navy and the Air Force, engaged in developing the youth of the country into disciplined and patriotic citizens.
The soldier youth foundation in India is a voluntary organization which recruits cadets from high schools, higher secondary, colleges and universities all over India.
The cadets are given basic military training in small arms and drill. The officers and cadets have no liability for active military service once they complete their course.
