Brief: ARDE, under the Department of Defence Research and Development has issued a tender for development cum production partner for medium calibre 20 and 30 mm gun barrels
Basically, ARDE is planning to take up new project in the area of medium caliber canon guns like turret mounted, self-propelled AD and Naval guns.
The main integral part of these weapons systems are barrel. The barrels are made from specialized forged raw materials and subsequently machined, honed and rifled with specialized machining process.
The proposed development work will lead to self-reliant in the field of medium caliber barrel and its materials and manufacturing technologies.
The specification is intended for development of private industrial partner for DRDO, who will develop and manufacture medium caliber gun barrels (20mm and 30mm).
Currently, the most of the medium caliber weapons are imported or manufactured through foreign transfer of technology with foreign specified materials/processes.
The objective of the work is to design, develop and manufacture medium caliber gun barrels of different weapons through indigenous raw materials and processes. Refer below given Images.
