Israel develops ‘Sky Sonic’ Hypersonic Missile Interceptor

The Israeli state-owned defence company Rafael Advanced Defense Systems Ltd has come up with an interceptor missile called ‘SkySonic’ that is intended to intercept hypersonic missile.

The missile has hypersonic capabilities (speed higher than the speed of sound) that would make it difficult for Israeli defence systems to intercept.

As of now, the interception system is nearing completion and will shortly undertake its first flying testing.

The details on the anticipated timelines for the development’s completion has not been provided by Rafael.

It is worth mentioning that the hypersonic missiles are challenging to shoot down because they can travel at least five times faster than the speed of sound and on a complicated trajectory.

This revolutionary system was officially unveiled for the first time at the Paris Air Show, one of the world’s largest aerospace exhibitions.

About ‘Sky Sonic’ Hypersonic Missile Interceptor

The Sky Sonic interceptor represents a major technological leap in hypersonic missile defense.

Designed with exceptional maneuverability and high-speed capabilities, it effectively neutralizes hypersonic missiles, which travel at ten times the speed of sound, with unmatched precision and stealth.

Unlike ballistic missiles, the hypersonic missiles have the ability to change their course mid-flight. Consequently, a successful defense against hypersonic threats requires a multifaceted approach that involves not only countering their speed but also effectively tracking, detecting, and intercepting their unpredictable flight paths.
