Chinese Defense Minister, Li Shangfu has reaffirmed military relations with Russia during a recently held meeting with the Head of the Russian Navy, Admiral Nikolai Yevmenov in Beijing.
The China’s Defence Minister Li said that the two countries should, “regularly organize joint exercises, joint cruises and joint military skills competition,” as well as “expand practical cooperation in professional fields.”
The discussion to expand naval cooperation with Russia came during the highest-level public talks between military officials from the two countries since a failed mutiny in Russia last month.
Noteworthy, Beijing has previously said that it supported Russia in protecting national stability regarding the shortlived Wagner mutiny against Russian armed forces.
In recent years, both the countries have escalated their economic cooperation and diplomatic relations.
And, their strategic partnership has semed to grow even more closer since Russia’s invasion of Ukraine last year.
Rather, Beijing and Moscow took part in joint naval exercises in the Gulf of Oman in March. Besides, the militaries of both the countries frequently hold military exercise and joint drills.
