Indian Army to procure 2000 Nos. of Medium Capacity Standard Bus

Indian Army has issued a Request for Information (RFI) for the procurement of about quantity 2000 numbers Bus (Type III ACX Medium Capacity Standard Bus) having 40 to 45 +1 seating capacity in 2×2 configuration confirming to AIS-052.

The tentative timeline for issue of RFP would be within six months of issue of RFI.

The Bus is required for conveyance of troops on metalled roads in plains and mountainous terrain as prevalent in our country.

The bus should confirm to AIS 052 and employ contemporary technology with modern design in all its systems to give best performance and reliability.

Further, the bus should provide maximum riding comfort with ergonomic seating configuration for driver and 40 to 45 +1 passengers in 2×2 configuration.

The overall dimensions and weight of the vehicle should allow it to go across a Class 18 bridge and be transportable by broad gauge section of the railway with ODC clearance (Height at Centre – 4115 MM, Height at Sides – 3505 MM, Maximum Width – 3050 MM for Bogie Wagon & 3200 MM for Wheeled Wagon).

Also, the overall height of the vehicle and the floor should be as low as possible to keep the centre of gravity low.

Besides, the height of the vehicle desired should not contradict with the ground clearance required by the bus to ply in mountainous terrain.

Further it should be IRNSS/ GPS based navigation system compatible and having display in the infotainment system in driver’s cabin be provided.

The tentative delivery schedule for supply of the equipment after conclusion of contract will be based on delivery at different locations in the country with numbers specified.
